Tin Matijević

GENERAL MANAGER

A graduate of the Music Academy at the University of Zagreb, where he studied with Professor Vinko Fabris, he went on to pursue advanced training in Vienna, Zagreb, and Sarajevo. There, he worked with renowned pedagogues Yuri Korchinski and Evgenia Tchugaeva, whose guidance deeply shaped his artistic development. During his studies, he took part in masterclasses with internationally renowned musicians and educators such as Michael Frischenschlager, Asja Kushner, Dora Schwarzberg, Taras Pecheny, Anna Kandinsky, and Leonid Sorokow, further enriching his musical perspective.

His entire musical career has been marked by a continuous interest in violin pedagogy - a field to which he has remained consistently dedicated alongside his other professional activities, through private teaching and many years of research. As one of the last students of Professor Tchugaeva, he now passes on her knowledge, principles, and musical aesthetics in his pedagogical work to new generations.

Tin's orchestral career is extensive and varied. He has been a member of the Sarajevo Philharmonic, the Quodlibet String Quartet, the Croatian Chamber Orchestra, and for many years, the orchestra of the Croatian National Theatre Opera in Zagreb. He has also collaborated with international festival ensembles including the Tyrolean Festival Orchestra in Erl and the Schleswig-Holstein Orchestra.

As an orchestra contractor for the American label PARMA Recordings, Tin has been involved in a number of international recording projects, coordinating orchestral personnel and contributing to the successful realization of studio sessions for the international classical music market.

Since 2023, he has served as the General Manager of the Zagreb Symphony Orchestra, guiding the ensemble through both artistic and organizational growth.

Passionate about teaching, Tin regularly leads violin masterclasses such as those organized by Jeunesses Musicales Croatia. He is dedicated to advancing pedagogical methods for students of all ages and contributes to professional literature in the field. He is also the author of 33 Études for Violin, a pedagogical collection published by the eminent Viennese publishing house Universal Edition, reflecting his commitment to developing practical and musically engaging resources for violin students.

In 2022, Tin returned to the place where his musical journey began - the Vatroslav Lisinski Music School in Zagreb - where he now teaches violin. This return symbolizes a meaningful connection between his experience and his commitment to inspiring and educating the next generation of musicians.
